Yreka Western Railroad/Rocky Mountain Railway & Mining Museum is an exhilarating and nostalgic place to volunteer or work.

So, let us tell you more about working with a historic railroad that has been in continuous operation since 1889.

On our non-profit side, Rocky Mountain Railway & Mining Museum operates our tourist railroad and passenger train. Yreka Western Railroad Company, our freight hauling railroad,  is a for profit corporation and together we are striving to provide our customers and guests with fantastic customer service and knowledgeable people. We're a company that likes to have fun while doing just that!

Motivated and enthusiastic are just two of the adjectives used to describe employees and volunteers at Yreka Western Railroad. Employees and volunteers are our greatest asset. Whether it's a salesperson in our gift shop, a volunteer train crew member or a member of our preservation & maintenance staff, Yreka Western Railroad puts the highest level of attention on our employees and volunteers.

One of Yreka Western Railroad’s business philosophies is that one great person equals three good people in terms of business productivity. So, why not hire only great people? With that said, when it comes to selecting who will join the team, we go to great lengths to look for that one great person to fill a position. Most volunteers and employees at Yreka Western Railroad are railroad enthusiasts and some were guests first.

Yreka Western Railroad/ Rocky Mountain Railway & Mining Museum  matches employees' strengths with the needs of the company, focusing on talent rather than titles. They come from varied backgrounds with tremendous depth and ability, as we value diversity on all levels.
